Minor Earthquake Rattles Dishes in South Jersey
by KYW's Al Novack
US geological officials have confirmed what many South Jersey residents felt on Wednesday morning -- a rare, minor earthquake in our area.
John Bellini, a geophysicist for the National Earthquake Center in Golden, Colo., says the temblor hit about 9:45am and measured about 2.7 on the Richter scale -- not a magnitude to cause injuries or more than incidental damage.
Bellini says the quake was centered near Wilmington, Del., and could be felt most strongly in Salem and Cumberland counties of New Jersey and New Castle County, Del. At least one person reported feeling it in Media, Pa.
Needless to say, no injuries or damage have been reported.

Re: 2.7 EQ in NJ
I heard about this on the way home today. I only felt one in my lifetime and it was in NJ as well. It was centered around Cherry Hill, NJ around 1993 or 1994. I think it was around the same magnitude. Freaky feeling!

Our east coast old fault lines occasionally burp! Never knew we had so many until I took a good look.
