After such a tragedy, the only words out of Pat Roberson's mouth is to offend the Haitian people. WOW, unbelievable.
Then every country that has suffered a disaster has a "pact"? I can't believe there are people that think that way.

El Salvador government will send a rescue team to Haiti, the members are: 8 firemen, 4 members of the salvadoran Red Cross and one search and rescue dog. Initially they will be in Haiti 7 days but they could be there more time if necessary.

With the damage to roads and bridges and the airport control tower, to say nothing of the loss of life of so many UN and UNICEF staff, contact with Haiti is almost non-existant at the moment with no telephones and no power. I am sure the aid agencies will all be seeking extra funds. I have attached a list of possible recipients should anyone wish to help - my personal favourite is the Red Cross. A Haitian doctor who works here in the Dominican Republic will be leaving for Port-au-Prince shortly with clothes and medicines and we hope he can get through.

I agree with you, western RD may have suffered some damage, I hope it doesn't but it's a possibility being so close to the epicenter.

We do have someone in chat from Santo Domingo. .. he was in chat last night. He said he barely felt it.
I heard reports that there a lot of reporters and aid agencies going over the border from the Dominican Republic because they could not get in to the airport. So roads are not blocked. . .

After such a tragedy, the only words out of Pat Roberson's mouth is to offend the Haitian people. WOW, unbelievable.
Might not be the best time to discuss that... but I have been told the same thing and not by Pat Robertson. I was informed of this more than 10 years ago
That said... ANY PACT WAS MADE 200 YEARS AGO! From what I have heard... the people who went through the quake most certainly WERE NOT ACTING LIKE THEY HAD THAT TYPE OF PACT... thus, it is IRRELEVANT to the situation
I ALSO WANT TO BE CRYSTAL CLEAR... NOW IS THE TIME TO COME TOGETHER TO HELP THOSE IN THIS DESPERATE TIME OF NEED. LET WHAT MAY HAVE HAPPENED 200 YEARS AGO REMAIN 200 YEARS AGO!

not the quake expert at all... but could the mountains surrounding the capital have contained the shaking to the immediate capital region; thus, sparing the DR?

I have a bad feeling the earthquake could exceed the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami.

Thanks Gustywind for posting these. My heart goes out to all those in Haiti. I did the above that I highligthed in red. I am not good at texting but I finally figured out how to do it!

I received a response and they asked for a reply of "yes" if I wish to donate so I replied yes. It was easier than I thought and I received a confirmation that they received my donation.
