yes its quite common in the pacific.
An example from a quake in july of

How much of the shaking at that depth translates to the surface?

I am not a meteorologist, and any posts made by me are not official forecasts or to be interpreted as being intelligent. These posts are just my opinions and are probably silly opinions.

Probably just a weak shaking according to earthquake report.
Because of the unpopulated area it would be hard to get any
info on actual effects on the surface.

Harmless DEEP earthquake with its hypocenter in the solid hot mantle of the earth
This earthquake will probably be felt as a very weak shaking in a big radius (hundreds of km)
There is NO risk for a tsunami

Thanks answering and for the information. It's crazy to think about things 300-500 miles below your feet.
