When we look back at Fay we will be just amazed and think that she was some " made up fictional storm".
Traveled over Hispanola, battling mountains; instead of north of the islands.
Did NOT strengthen over warm waters,
DID strengthen over land.
I think Derek's sarcasm has a ring of truth.
She has a fear of water!
The people upstream in North Florida, Georgia and The Carolinas will have a lot of fun trying to figure out whether to board up, hunker down, close schools etc...
Have fun y'all....... she's all yours!
We officially pass her on to YOU!!!!!

Re:
There's no explanation really, it's nature. NHC becomes better and better every year but every once in a while there will always be a storm like this that throws even the experts off.bob rulz wrote:So basically Fay couldn't intensify while over the water despite conditions mostly being in its favor, and now that it's over land it bombs out? Insane. I hope someone somewhere, whether within the NHC or not, studies this extensively and tries to explain this. This is just insane!

Re: ATL: Tropical Storm Fay Inside Florida Penninsula
It's storms like Fay that people brush off that cause the most trouble. This could end up costing Florida billions.
ok, next up is Melbourne (I hate the spelling) Florida until I find a better station.

Not sure which thread to ask this in so, hopefully I won't upset anyone by asking here.
Does anyone know or have any info as to how the Bonita Springs area has fared through Fay? Rain totals, tornadic activity, any damage or flooding reports?
My grandparents have a home there and are currently in Colorado worrying about that area.
Thanks for any info.

I agree I think everyone from the east coast to the gulf coast should watch this carefully.

All i can say is WOW!!! If she stays this good looking by the time she hits the atlantic...and stays there for even 24 hours..she could get ugly
Any thoughts on this..i know we have not been able to fgure her out..why start now............................................................The posts in this forum are NOT official forecast and should not be used as such. I know you weren't dissing the NHC or nothing so don't think I'm mad or anything of that nature, but I have to give a standing ovation to the NHC office. They have had their hands full with Fay (and still are full of Fay) but they have made very reasonable calls and most if not all have payed off. GREAT JOB NHC Meteorologist and too anyne else who keep their cool during this horrible trek, but where not done yet!

She might be back!

Yep shockwave they've been pretty good, its not thier best calls ever but then again this has been a bit of a forecasting nightmare at times so thats to be expected really!
Anyway depending on track shouldn't be all that long before this is back out in the Atlantic and thats when things may get very interesting, we have to see what the happens but the structure of Fay argues strongly for quick strengthening.

paintplaye wrote:The track has it going to the gulf more though. So what are you trying to say? You are really not helping your case.
You're not completely reading and/or understanding my posts.
BAMM and BAMS a couple of days ago (and what I was referring to) had FAY missing Florida COMPLETELY and going straight up the west, Gulf coast of Florida (about 60-80 miles offshore) and heading straight to Mobile/Gulf Shores.
What YOU'RE looking at is some models now showing FAY making an extreme left hook and emerging into the Gulf.
Two ENTIRELY different scenarios, and BOTH are erroneous in my opinion!

Ok now you make sense... Yes that did happen but at the same time all the models were wrong at that time in some way. Some had it going straight going all the way to Canada, some had it not hitting Florida. Yes GFDL was in the majority group but who cares it was still wrong.

Re:
I disagree...the NHC expected this to be a Cat 1 at landfall and spoke in every advisory of the threat for excessive rain and flooding. I think what really is the issue is that the public totally underestimates what a strong tropical storm can do. Unless it is a Cat 5, the general public loses interest!
