He was having no trouble standing up, and his assistant with the anemometer claimed gusts over 100mph with sustained winds of 70mph. I have stood with VERY accurate wind meters (at 33 feet) and hand held on a lake durring katrina, and outside durring wilma... and it is not easily possible to stand up in 45+mph winds let alone 60+. 60+ and tree's begin to fall... gerald i'm sure is not as strong as a tree. ;p

Geraldo was having problems standing, almost being blown over at times, but I do agree that 117mph seems a bit too high. I wouldn't doubt gusts to at least 85-90mph though, because numbers in that range have been reported by another network as well (I think it was CNN).

I'm really getting weary of satellite and radar images, wobbles, and eyewall structure.

It doesn't matter any more. Let's stick to stuff that's a little bit more important right now. A wobble isn't going to save many people from flooding at this point. A picture won't make the storm more or less impressive or powerful.

Damage and flooding reports? Eyewitness accounts? Official notices?
