In this kind of business, veracity is everything. I can guarantee there is a big difference between 117 mph and 80 mph. An exponential difference, so, yah it matters.

You will notice from the water vapor image I posted that the upper-layer outflow from this hurricane is well established and the cirrus outflow has become better defined over the past few hours.

I wouldn't doubt gusts to at least 85-90mph though, because numbers in that range have been reported by another network as well (I think it was CNN).I call absolute B.S.
He was having no trouble standing up, and his assistant with the anemometer claimed gusts over 100mph with sustained winds of 70mph. I have stood with VERY accurate wind meters (at 33 feet) and hand held on a lake durring katrina, and outside durring wilma... and it is not easily possible to stand up in 45+mph winds let alone 60+. 60+ and tree's begin to fall... gerald i'm sure is not as strong as a tree. ;p
Where is this illusive footage???? Link?

I'm really getting weary of satellite and radar images, wobbles, and eyewall structure.
It doesn't matter any more. Let's stick to stuff that's a little bit more important right now. A wobble isn't going to save many people from flooding at this point. A picture won't make the storm more or less impressive or powerful.
Damage and flooding reports? Eyewitness accounts? Official notices?

After they finally load maybe.. You're posting 8 Mb of pictures. Do you have any idea how long it takes to load those if you're not on a super fast connection?

I am glued to the local Houston coverage: http://flhurricane.com/ikecoverage.html But I just have to say, how can the local Channel 2 go to commercials at a time like this? Sorry, just had to get this off my chest.
