Re: ATL:Tropical Depression Eight in Central Atlantic
Let me tell you.. this thing has that same setup as Andrew, I hope to all that is holy that it does get taken out, because from the looks of it, there isn't much that can deviate it if it follows under that high.
The news media that wanted their big storm to cover in SFL might just get what they want..

Re: ATL:Tropical Depression Eight in Central Atlantic
I warned I did not think this was going fishing. It still can but I am a bit concerned about this one (have been since I saw it last Sat racing west across the Atlantic).
I'll continue to provide updates and my forecast reasoning.

Re: ATL:Tropical Depression Eight in Central Atlantic
I think TWC is going to have a dilemma this weekend and next week...
Where do they send Cantore...Middle Gulf Coast or SE Florida. Maybe they'll flip a coin.
For that matter I guess Mark @ Hurricanetrack is going to have to make some decisions also...It appears that the Hurricanetrack Chevy Tahoe will be getting some miles put on it this weekend...

Re: ATL:Tropical Depression Eight in Central Atlantic
This storm really has me worried this morning about a second significant landfall. Steering patterns seem to be against this becoming a fish, thus if the upper level winds become favorable we can very well have another substantial landfall somewhere in the US, likely on the SE coast.
Question - Hasn't the area from Jacksonville to Savannah gone the longest time without seeing a major hurricane? I believe I read that somewhere, that the GA coast is long overdue for a major storm. Not saying they will see this at all but it does make you wonder if it is only a matter of time.

I caught the end of the tropical update on Weather Channel. Dr Lyons last night said 95L should head up near Bermuda. So I said to myself. There's trouble. Sure enough you wake up in the morning and poof. Depression possibly heading to the east coast. Nothing against Dr. Lyons. But he should be more careful with his wording. Until he knows all the facts. Which none of us do.

Re: ATL:Tropical Depression Eight in Central Atlantic
Globals paint a very bleak picture for the SE US/FL if Hannah gets trapped and it looks more like she will given the forecasted synoptics..The ridging will be strong and deep along the East coast/western Atlantic as we head into Labor Day.The result will be a moderate/strong NE flow across the East coast of FL next week well in advance with the approach of Hanna. As this materializes hanna should be e/ene of the Bahamas and begin to move wsw at that point for a period of 24-36 hours before turning back west. The point is with the synoptics forecasted there is a reasonable chance Hanna heads on a course to directly impact portions of the bahamas/Fl.

I saw the same tropical weather update you did. He was correct in saying "it may develop and impact Bermuda" because as of last night several good models were sending it there.
I'm sure he was noting the Euro and BAMS and how they bent the system back west but had no reason to mention that in only 10 seconds of covering 95L.

New GFDL is further East, further North, and a steeper path South.

I recall you did say you didn't think it would, and now the fishing scenario doesn't seem likely at all. This is looking quite ominous for FL and needs to be watched.
Re: the possibility of a double impact (Gulf & FL) - if there are large evacs for both, could cause a real headache for the south, esp if Gustav landfalls from LA to the FL panhandle.
Wonder if 8 will be Hanna at 11. In my (ignorant) view, it sure looks like it.

Re: ATL:Tropical Depression Eight in Central Atlantic
hmm so after this thing takes that SW turn at the end of the models, is it expected to track W?
