Difficult to say. It could be at mid-levels.

Well the loop is really suggestive of this becoming a TD pretty soon, there is clear mid level circulation and with the strong convection around that icrculation won't take long to dig down to the surface...

what a nutty 24hrs we are having!!!

I would be surprised if it wasn't upgraded to red at the next TWO update. We could have a TD on our hands sooner than expected.

Either way it looks likely that we'll have 3 storms churning out there pretty soon, even as the remnants of Gustav terrorize the south.

It seems like this wave is coming off the coast at a lower latitude than TD9 did. Looks like it has a good shot at developing. Looks impressive to me already

What an insane day. Ok, it is September but still, having 3 and maybe sooner than later a fourth tropical system is not very ordinary.

And yes, this looks like it could be our next Depression and Jo later on.

And September 10 is the official "peak" of the season.

I think I will vote for September 2, 3 or 4 being the peak in 2008.

Looks fairly possible.

Just for a comparison, at this time in 2005 we were at L.

Almost definitely going to see the "J" storm as well.

If that happens, we will be at this point when Maria formed in 2005. Basically that is 3 storms behind....absolutely incredible storms this year. At this rate we very well may see the greek alphabet again.
