storms in NC wrote:What a shame. We have the perfect setup to get some good rain and it stays off shore. I guess God didn't want the farms to have any good rain. With little wind ect.. Oh well see what happens today. Right now sun is up and birds are a singing away. They took down any warnings down from last night. Don't even have any thing along the beaches.weird.From the discussion it will be gone by Monday. It goes Poof.

Oh and good morning all.

Good morning Storms... what warnings are you referring to? Tropical Storm Warnings remain up from the South Santee River in South Carolina all the way to the NC/VA border.

Really impressive rainband (the first real tropical storm one I have seen thus far) is set to come onshore into the Myrtle Beach up toward Wilmington area within the next hour.

Suspense? JB still thinks a hurricane watch is in order, and that this could hit Nantucket and the Maritime provinces after!

No idea if he is correct...

Suspenceful in the fact that it always looks like what it's not. When we thought it was disorganized, the found a center. When we thought it was organized, there was no center. It's always expect the unexpected and because it's going to the Gulf, a lot of people are paying close attention.

I am concerned about the (wave) pounding the OBX might take. With the progged direction of movement, will there be less battering waves I'm wondering (than from a more perpendicular path). The banks don't need any more forced erosion.

[The smart money gave up on 94L last night...at least for a while. This thread is dead I guess because so many people are out of harm's way from 96, but to me its formation is much more interesting to watch than that blob in carib --- sorry for going OT a bit]

Oh, and I am SO thankful it isn't some major destructive storm that is on the lips of every news anchor for the next 30 years like Katrina. At least Katrina was a better name to have stick around forever.

When Cristoforo Colombo sailed to the New World for the Spanish monarchy, he took the Spanish name of Cristobal Colon. That name is an important one in the history of all the Americas.
