Well guys .. I'm going to keep an eye open of course, but as far as I'm concerned, FAY is an overhyped dud!

And way out in the Atlantic mother nature heard him and swirled a little swirl to send his way...

Hey! I heard that. :P

To quote Monty Python "I'm not [gone] yet!" :cheesy:

I said for all intents and purposes, I'm done with FAY. But I am a little concerned by that blob SSE of the Bahamas! I'll probably be back here this weekend sweating bullets with the rest of you!

RI? with it that close to land? no sure I would go that far. Maybe a cat 1 before the second actual landfall.

Charley was closer to the coast I think when it blew up. I don't think distance is a factor

And to what you say about the lights in Miami, as of 8, there were 7000 customers without power.

Say what you will about FPL - They brought a reactor at Turkey Point down tonight (not Fay related apparently, a maintenance issue) - So with half a nuclear plant offline they still have power at my house.

No chance on RI once that dry air dried out the south quadrant.

I do not like FPL as a company personally, but what choice do you have? All i can remember is 2 weeks to get power after wilma, and almost all of miami losing power after turkey point went offline. But electricity is a very delicate thing, not much you can do.

As of 11 a total of 10380 FPL customers are without power, 6900 in Miami Dade and 2500 in Broward alone.

:uarrow:

But the moisture stays east of the Low so there isn't too much flooding.

The system definitely appears headed towards Naples. I hope they keep power. It's borderline with the winds. Many will probably go dark, but, hopefully, for not too long.

just got back from a long walk on the beach in S. palm beach. Man the winds have picked up a bit, a few squalls toward the end of the walk, as well as that flashing green sky (power outages or something?) anyhow , this storm is kind of making me silly, last nite she made everyone on the board (after 2am) go for a loop. tonite she looks like she is getting her act together in a slow and steady way. seems like she drops a millibar every 2 hours or something like that, and she is obviously in no hurry.

Ever so slight wind increase here. The palms are making that slippery hiss in gusts.

Well my wife saw plenty of PIKE Electric bucket trucks headed south on turnpike this evening around 7:30 pm in Palm Beach County. Winds picking up here a little but overall so far a rain event.

90 hours per 0z GFS back over TAMPA...well technically a few miles east of Tampa, but not really that important 90 hours out.

You know that old saying, it ain't over 'till the fat lady sings

this lady may be breaking the proverbial glass...a minimal category 1 at landfall would be an impressive feat seeing how it's been held back for so long.

Welcome to the board! That line of squalls that went through Miami in the last hour looked like they could have possibly knocked out power for some.

Radar is showing some pretty intense cells moving from the South and headed through Palm Beach County. Looks like they'll be coming my way next. Gonna catch some shut eye before the show gets going up on the Treasure Coast. Talk to you overnighters in a bit.

Is that an eyewall or dry slot developing on radar?
