Another thought.... daytime heating over Florida may be helping the convection.

What are you basing this on considering the models are starting to trend it back into the GOM?

I think he qualified his statment when he quoted the GFDL model run taking the storm into Savannah

stormcenter...it feels like a hurricane over Fl...we've been getting soaked for hours & the winds are steadily increasing along with the gusts..I'm starting to wonder if maybe I sholuld've boarded up. Faye is certainly making her presence felt here in inland central Fl...having big bands continue to ge over us.
Anyone not impressed with this measly tropical storm should not be allowed to post anymore. 8-)

I know it is the BAMM.. but I'm thinking something along that line, maybe a bit further out to sea first.

Thanks for posting that. So what do the rest of you guys feel she will do? Seems like a whole lot of uncertainty right now.

Very chaotic and changeable sky where i am (west broward near sawgrass expy). It only lasted about 3 minutes, but just had worst squall i have seen yet with fay....strongest winds by far. Power went out for a minute but is thankfully back on. Sky is brightening, but overall, it is windier now than it was last night

I've never seen anything like that on a QPF map.

Could Fay actually be STRENGTHENING over the warm, swampy land?

Looks like the western eyewall might be starting to weaken from the Miami and Tampa radars.

It is apparent she is going to be forced back westward, the million dollar question is just how far north is she when she stalls and how long is that stall and does she turn so much she moves WSW for a period. Any turn westward south of St. Augustine could put her back in the Gulf if she has any WSW component to her movement. If she gets back over to the Gulf far enough south she could spend an appreciable amount of time over the Gulf before she makes another landfall.

looks like we're getting some dry air wrapping around the center...that should inhibit further strengthening should it not? most of east coast south florida should be in dry air for the next few hours easily...occasional pops that fly through...not much on radar tot he south and south west...
