00Z NAM, a bit more east and a very significant hurricane heading north in the NW Caribbean.

hate to be a pest about it but why north :P

Sometimes I'll see this map posted when the storm is heading with the arrows, and when its not no one posts this map. Is worth a hoot, like some of the models?

Is this the layer I should be looking at, http://cimss.ssec.wisc.edu/tropic2/real ... oom=&time= :?:

Does anyone has a map or graphic that shows where are the big mountains of Nicaragua?

It does look like Ida's heading west but it's hard to tell on an infrared satellite picture.

Oh, I see. That map is for tropical cyclones with pressure > than 1000mb. You need to use the one for the pressure range that covers this storm. This storm has a pressure of 995mb. Sorry, I'm really tired and have to go to bed soon so I can't post the image, but if you look at the CIMSS chart for storms between 990 and 999mb, the steering winds for storms of that pressure level are weak. The steering winds may be very strong towards the west just north of IDA, but IDA is moving so slowly for now that it isn't getting picked up by those winds that would push it west. Hope this helps, and you would never be a pest. That's a really good question.

Plane departs from Biloxi around 7 AM EST and will arrive to the center around 1 PM EST.All this may not occur if it makes landfall in the morning.
