Yup...I'm seeing the same thing............Definitely a W movement...
I think I'm ready for this typhoon(just came from the grocery to get some supplies)........

I'm a bit worried that when they analyze this ridge, they will bring the forecast position down some. note: ecmwf still shows a Polillo Island landfall. I hope and pray that doesn't happen, but they have been very good on short-medium term forecasts (3 days) this year.

Just read the article about the volcano, too. That is nuts! Did someone put a curse on the Philippines? Seriously.

This advisory was for Ramil (Lupit). This is for Mirinae (Santi)

Talk about the worst understatement and nonchalance you could get from your local weather bureau...

It'll only be a matter of time, though, because some sites are starting to report on Typhoon Santi (Mirinae's name in the PAGASA region when it crosses). Also, Mirinae is Sudal's replacement in case someone was wondering.

same sentiments here.

I have completed my preparedness meeting for our company last night.
If not for your posts guys I wouldnt know that there is a reason for concern.

Hopefully there is something that would weaken and reroute this Typhoon.

Here's a news article from GMA News about Typhoon Santi (Mirinae)

http://www.gmanews.tv/story/175750/storm-santi-may-enter-rp-thursday-govt-readies-relief-goods

I guess PAGASA got used to storms lingering within the Philippines that they seem to assuredly declare Santi's passing would be brief. I'm sorry but Ketsana (Ondoy) passed just one day in the Metro area and it left such devastation.

I'm a bit concerned about the STR on Mirinae's northwest. It seems to be digging deeper on sat loops. Do they have forecasts for the STR's as to how much they could strengthen? I believe the typhoon's landfall will depend on how much the STR would push it down.

Again, I'm expecting the worst(lower landfall) because of the STR.....

And speak of bad luck whenever you could get one, I've read the article about Mayon Volcano and it's threatening to erupt at any moment.
