If anything, it'll be relief. If this was off of Galveston, we'd be celebrating! It's dry as a powder house here.

Not sure the overwhelming sentiment will be one of relief for folks in the panhandle with a potentially developing system heading their way...just a hunch

Well I mean rainfall wise. I doubt this will be a Cat 4 upon landfall, you know what I mean? I meant no disrespect to our friends in the panhandle.

True....but this area of florida isn't desperate for rain like other areas. Plus, the area of the Big Bend of Florida is very surge prone, and as we have seen, it doesn't take a Cat 4 to do serious damage. A strong ts could do that with surge in the most vulnerable places.
Anytime you have a developing system in the gulf this time of year, there is cause for concern. As we see, things can change quickly.

this buoy has sustained of 30 mph.... and a SE wind.. right where it should be ..
pressure still a little high but lower than land stations..
http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.php?station=42013
was just checking some doppler velocities and in tha strong band there are some estimates of 43kts at an height of 5000 to 8000 ft..

Whatever it's going to do will have to happen quick. What's the deal with the love affair for N.O.?

latest radar from GR level 3
convection consolidating and intensifying around developing surface circ. one thing to point out is that the individual cells are rotating around faster than they were 2 hours ago which means the circ is tightening up.

I wouldn't put too much stock in those runs...they are initiated further south than the current estimated center. No models showed florida tracks before....this could the start of a trend now that some models are showing fl panhandle.

storm speed forgot to put them in here.. but they are from 25 to 43 kts... vs earlier they were at around 15kts.. again its a sign that the surface feature is deepening..

Looks to me like the graphic is favoring a landfall significantly East of N.O. Considering the current motion, this looks pretty reasonable. My duck lease could use the rain, but NOT the wind!!

At this angle I don't think it will miss anyone between Florida and Louisiana.
