Since there does not seem to be enough time for another flight to get out there before landfall, however long this flight can stay out is probably all the additional reconnaissance we will get.

That's correct. Even if a flight left Biloxi now it wouldn't make it.

To get a Cat 3 on FL winds at this level requires 123 kt.

Despite the pressur and presentation, I think to get 123kts is a big ask, but could find winds to justify 90kts though.

If they left the storm now, Dvorak estimates would probably raise the landfall intensity to at least 90 kt.

Hurricane Alex has proven itself as worthy  .

Eyewall open now on the SW side as you'd expect as the system starts to clip land...W.Eyewall should be heading for land soon.

I can't imagine recon can stay much longer surely?

It looks like they may take one more core punch then up through the NE quadrant and probably home from there I'd have to think...

Probably seeing if we can get a center pressure below 946mbs and whether the winds have increased any further.

Yep the recon team is really earning thier money with this mission, its very impressive!

I'd imagine pressure is about the same as last time, but its a close run thing, it only needs to drop 2mbs to match Audrey so we may see history...though offically it is July in the records, it is still June in EST.

Going to find out in the next 5-15 mins, may even find out in that timeframe whether Alex is a little stronger then the 85kts its at right now.

I expect a sharp right turn in the eye and exit NE and out. Gutsy folks.

Where did Pojo go anyway?

Wow really, so they've been flying now for about 10hrs, wow thats pretty insane if thats the case!

Should see any moment now where Alex is, I personally think we may match Audrey with 946mbs.

That is a good question...there are just some things here, about the aircraft/Recon in general, that have been asked that I or anyone else have trouble answering.
