It just seems like dreadful issues come in a series sometimes, Sunny... our prayers are certainly with you that weather doesn't complicate the already disastrous oil situation. Maybe our prayers are working... this wave could've already been a storm based on some projections, and it's not...so let's hope it just poofs and fades into the Pacific.

Well, I can see why. The Euro acts as if there is no trough at all. Clearly I think there will be one, but not nearly as deep as the gfs advertises.

Hmmm. Quite a large range...

I highly doubt that is a cone of any kind. It shows two of the more likely tracks. Either the ridge will be stronger with a not so deep trough, ie Galveston or vicinity or stronger trough and Florida vicinity. We'll see.

Bit off topic while we wait, but this scene on Pensacola beach today was heartbreaking. Hopefully a storm in the gulf wont add more heartbreak.

OMG! I know it's off topic too, but I'm so sorry, Ivanhater. This is just breaking my heart. I hope it all works out somehow...

Latest IR pics from the loop have been somewhat scary. The models were not picking up on this intensification until tomorrow. The storms are really consolidating here nicely.

There is that naked swirl exiting west but I can't see anything back closer to the convection at the surface. It does look better organized though. No MLC to compete with tonight than the last couple of nights.

Really looks like consolidation just SSE of Jamaica. This could be it. I think we'll have a depression in the western Caribbean by Friday morning - maybe sooner.
