Something is wrong with this BT, because PGTW just fixed Neoguri at T6.0 in the 12z update, and this is the very same intensity estimated at 06z.

I noticed this too. That it came from an upper-level tropospheric trough (ULTT).

That’s pretty cool actually.

Like Danas earlier this year, Neoguri has a remarkably impressive presentation for a Category 2-equivalent typhoon, with the latest subjective Dvorak fix from NOAA at T6.0 and raw ADT numbers climbing towards T6.5.

Medium confidence on intensity.

TY 25W HAS CONTINUED TO RAPIDLY INTENSIFY IN
A HIGHLY FAVORABLY ENVIRONMENT AND IS NOW ASSESSED TO BE 95KTS. THE
INITIAL POSITION IS PLACED WITH HIGH CONFIDENCE BASED ON THE
AFOREMENTIONED ANIMATED EIR AND EXTRAPOLATION FROM A 201053Z
METOP-B ASCAT IMAGE REVEALING A DISTINCT LOW-LEVEL CIRCULATION
CENTER. THE INITIAL INTENSITY OF 95 KTS IS ASSESSED WITH MEDIUM
CONFIDENCE BASED ON THE SAME ASCAT IMAGE WHILE SUPPORTED BY THE
AGENCY AND OBJECTIVE FIXES LISTED BELOW.

JTWC maintains his dirty love for ADT.
AGENCY DVORAK AND AUTOMATED FIXES:
PGTW: T6.0 - 115 KTS
RJTD: T6.0 - 115 KTS
RCTP: T6.5 - 127 KTS
KNES: T6.0 - 115 KTS

CIMSS SATCON: 94 KTS AT 200754Z
CIMSS ADT: 84 KTS AT 201130Z
CIMSS AIDT: 93 KTS AT 201130Z

CIMSS D-MINT: 105 KTS AT 201150Z
CIMSS D-PRINT: 101 KTS AT 201230Z

- And the average of these estimates would give us a result of 105-110 kts. Great job, JTWC!

Well, ADT CI has hit 6.0. If an objective fix to support 110-115kts is the data point they were waiting for, they now have it.

Recon in the Western Pacific?! Like actual recon where they fly around the storm and go through the eye like the NHC/CPHC recon does?!

Am I dreaming?! Someone pinch me, because I think I am.

They've been flying into 1-2 typhoons a year since 2017.

How do they use the data they get? I would assume that they do things different since it’s a different RSMC, so is there a way translate the data into 1-min winds and minimum pressure?

And the other good part is it will not threat any landmasses.
