Keep in mind Florida is dealing with a lot of rain and the prolonged effects of Debbie just hanging offshore. Debbie is going to be an expensive tropical storm.

If this transfer of energy is taking place should be the end of precip at least for the Tampa area northward as the feeder bands look to be sinking south. It is a beautiful morning in North Tampa area, giving time for the water to recede. I pray for those living on the rivers and streams and for all those that suffered damage yesterday. Hopefully today we can begin drying out...fingers crossed....

Before anyone writes off Debby, keep in mind that her center is still well organized, and she is now refiring convection in her NE and SW quads:

well, bust in a way that it was highly anticipated by many to become the 2nd hurricane of the season, and also bust in a way that TX expected a drought-buster out of this but ended up moving northeast.

I thought Florida can think of Debby's rains as beneficial? Was the rain for the past 2 days already that bad?

Florida didn't need this much rain. It's creating flooding problems throughout the state. And it's not even over yet. There will be more today as well.

TPAcane wrote:That last loop looks like the flood gates of dry air finally opened up and took Debby down....seriously wondering if the inflow is not feeding that convective cluster off NE FL coast. Almost seems like when the previous poster mentioned pressures dropping like a rock over Amelia Island then rising...was the ghost of Debby leaving the gulf and possessing this new entity...lol...certainly looks finished on that last WV image though...IMHO.
The "flood gates of dry air"... What an interesting play on words! That's clever if it was intentional, if not...

Dry air or no dry air it seems that regardless of the specific organization around it's "center" or what used to be its center seems surprisingly irrelavant to our crazy weather here on the FL penninsula. Like someone else stated you can't always focus on the center to realize the wide ranging effects of a tropical system, classified as a strong system or barely hanging on like this one.

I also hope (and think) that she's done as far as being a trackable entity but her effects appear to be far from over.

Largo had 11.2" in a 24hr period. FL needs the rain but not all at once. Rivers still rising. Multiple tornados with one fatality in Highlands County.

A big pool of very unstable air is off to the west.

CAPE = 5000, LI = -8

Looks like it is starting to advect in on the southern circulation - confirmed by the convective flare.

Core temp profile shows an inversion of 3C at 2km.

http://rammb.cira.colostate.edu/product ... 8_TANO.GIF

Will watch if that erodes away today.

If it does, it will be like a midwest thunderstorm when the convective cap dissipates, convection could be explosive.

Interesting aspect coming from Fox 13 in Tampa....palm trees floating by on Bayshore (River) Boulevard. Tampa is preparing for the RNC and planted hundreds of new palm trees, and a couple have come out of the ground and have been floating around. The 2 by 4's that holds them up are also coming out and floating around. Surge is rising in Tampa right now.

GCANE, once again your input has been invaluable. I can't imagine this forum without you.

Anyways, recon finding plenty of readings in the high 40s and low 50s (kts) at flight level, enough to support at least 45mph winds. Debby is still a solid Tropical Storm with a sizable windfield, despite attempts by many to will her to death.
