Yes and this is what creates "average" rainfall, etc. Kind of stupid.

It is frightening how a place could go from extreme drought to extreme flooding, and that is something that
the idea of an "average" rainfall does not account for...

Wakulla county was probably the hardest hit out of anywhere, the floods there are unbelievable. The way Bayshore in tampa storm surge flooded is telling too, if a moderate size hurricane was positioned similarly, it would make all of Davis Island and Tampa General Hospital completely cut off.

Geez, you are not kidding. It seems like Mother Nature decided that is was finally Jacksonville's time to be impacted. We had gone 48 years without having a direct landfall until Beryl happened. Now this with Debby. Incredible rain totals which I will tally up a bit later. I definitely know I am now over 16 inches for rainfall with Debby alone and its still raining at this hour.

16+ inches is extremely dangerous.

And yes Wakulla county was hit the hardest I cannot imagine what that much rain at once is like...

Regarding Bayshore, it flooded this much from a TS. A hurricane surge would mean kiss Tampa goodbye.

1. A TROPICAL WAVE LOCATED ABOUT 840 MILES WEST-SOUTHWEST Off off topic but seems early to be looking that far east

THE CAPE
VERDE ISLANDS IS PRODUCING DISORGANIZED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS.
ANY DEVELOPMENT OF THIS SYSTEM SHOULD BE SLOW TO OCCUR AS IT MOVES
WESTWARD AT 10 TO 15 MPH. THIS SYSTEM HAS A LOW CHANCE...10
PERCENT...OF BECOMING A TROPICAL CYCLONE DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS.

ELSEWHERE...TROPICAL CYCLONE FORMATION IS NOT EXPECTED DURING THE
NEXT 48 HOURS.

Definitely dropping a little south as seen on radar.(at least the rain is) and almost looks like the circulation center has found its way back over the gulf but looks could be deceiving.

Not an invest yet. Just an area of interest. Look at the NHC main page.

Debby is CLEARLY moving South or SSE
http://www.baynews9.com/content/news/ba ... .html.html
Just off the coast of the Nature Coast. For those unfamiliar with that part of Florida it is just about 50 miles nnw of Tampa Bay

Hmmm... Debby does seem to be a lot further south than earlier. Look at the NWS radar loop out of Tampa (sorry, not sure about the rules on posting links, no not posting a link)... seems to have slowed and drifted SE parallel to the coast, straddling/partially on land... also, winds at Cedar Key are now NE, suggesting that the center is south of there now.

What are you basing that on? I sure hope not on what you see on radar or satellite. Here is a RAP/UCAR surface analysis from METARS taken at 10:16PM EDT. I circled where the center is based on those two wind reports - one from the NE and one from the SW. Do you have different wind reports?

NWS Melbourne mentioned the south movement also in their very recent area forecast discussion.

I am a pro met too, just not registered as one here. That's why I'm asking for wind reports he has to support what he's saying. All very friendly, don't worry. :)
