Looks like that to me too, southwest. Welcome to the wobble watchers club.

Looks that way to me too.

All my ex's live in Texas!

Ehem, Isaac's convection rotating nicely around to the East and NE side finally. Looks as healthy as I've seen him despite his core issues.

Um, no. As wxman57 pointed out earlier, the center of Isaac is south of the dry spot some are perceiving as the center of circulation.

I think she was using recon to pinpoint center.. as it relates to NHC forcast... I agree with her.. I think recon is the best media right not to determine center.. my humble on untrained opinion only... NHC has done a pretty good job regarding the track of this storm ...

meant to say recon best method TO determine center attm

On a given wobble? Sure perhaps ... but the overall storm motion is not (consistently) northeast of the forecasted track.

A muscling-up of convection before land.

The cliche if it had more time over water applies.

So all of that weather that was to the southwest of this storm has moved to the northeast, I see.

The last post in the recon thread, with the detailed info from the flight, says the eye is 80 miles across? Or am I reading that wrong?

Does anyone have a visible picture of Isaac at 14:45 UTC or 15:15 UTC? I had to do something important and when I came back, the image had already gone and I can't seem to find a way to view past images on the NHC site. I know how to find the loops, but I cannot get the image from it, just the whole animation saves and I only need one picture.

You'll need to browse the ftp site to find it.

ftp://goes.gsfc.nasa.gov/pub/goeseast/

Not the easiest thing to do. Maybe someone knows an easier way to get archived images.

Yep...clearly moving west. And before long, it will clearly be moving north, before once again turning west, then north....you get the picture.

:uarrow: Nice storms developing on eastern side of center. Looks to be trying harder than it ever has to fully wrap and rid itself of the dry air. If this does indeed stall or slow way down for the rest of the day through tonight just have to wonder how strong it could become. Highest wind gust within the half hour in my area, which is about 55 miles w/wnw of NO, 32 mph sustained at 20. Actually as I type just had one come through had to be 35.

Also GCane was talking earlier about the atmospshere moistening up and becoming more unstable as the afternoon progresses which could help Isaac. Dew point is 75* and humidity 84%

Had a rough mid day, but it looks as if convection will balance out in the north over the next few hours. I cant exactly tell what the center is doing, its def wobbling alot, but i think it's drifting WNW right now.

Richard Simmons would be proud.

Is the eastern end of this front just too slow (or too far) to eventually draw Isaac east? Or at least entrain some of that dry air to keep his development arrested.

HPC maps show the front in the SE is retreating and washing out. His hope for going north is the trough digging in the northeast extending enough south otherwise High over the central plains takes over - west.

Looks like NO will start to see some surge soon? the heavy storms and flow on the NE quad will be pushing water up the Rigolets. (pronounced rig-o-lees, I used to live in NO) into the lake. AT work and have not been able to monitor the locals on that. Hope it is less than anticpated for all the old coon@**es down there. BTW land you can walk around on is at empire where all the oil services are. must be pretty hairy there now and at Grand Isle fish camps too.

who said it wasnt coming to TX

We're beginning to watch this more closely in eastern TX.

We're dropped from 1012.4 to 1010.1 in the last few hours north of Houston.

I'd like to see some informed speculation from some of the experienced hands here about
what kind of wind & precip we'd be looking at if the NAM/GFS verify.
