Yes I am hunkered down in my house and I am safe.We are currently getting hit hard.I think they eye wall is right over us.
very strong wind..gusts way over 75 mph and heavy rain...its been going on for a couple of hours now.
our boat is anchored in the Simpson Bay lagoon and it has burst partly lose from its ropes and we cannot get to it.
just hope it does not sink.
winds getting stronger as I type.
Be safe everyone
This storm may only be a CAT 1 but it's no fun at all and is really causing St Maarten major problems.

Given the journalists of our local radio, numerous power outages have been reported even electrics troubles for the call phone. Glad to know that you're ok :) !

Unfortunately the eye may just barely miss you since your winds have gone from northeast to north. It's not out of the question you could get a brief calming but it's looking less likely. Just be really careful. Stay safely away from windows - you know the drill.

That 110kt reading seems a bit unrealistic unless it's due to terrain effects

this is a short video I received of freinds helping to re anchor our boat n the Simpson bay lagoon.
the lagoon is where all the boats go for safety during storms.
Look at the waves in the lagoon.

There are some pretty steep mountains there that could cause orographic enhancement but on first blush it seems like bad data. I sure hope it's incorrect!

Sorry to hear about your boat, Barbara, but very happy you are in a safe place.

We're barely getting any rain so far here.

And that matches CIMSS ADT almost exactly which is now up to 74.6 knots on the objective Dvorak analysis.

Not sure how believable that latest 89 kt SFMR wind is...but agreed with 75 kt, maybe 80 kt, right now.

It's coming. The first significant band of rain/wind is only about 1-2 hours away from you.

You still have a shot at a part of the eye. It would have to be very soon now or else you will have missed it. Let us know if you get it but remember it won't last long. Stay safe!
