Given it could be very weak once it approaches Florida, I don't think it'll be a big deal in terms of major impact. In fact it very likely could dissipate with the encounter in DR. This storm is more of a test than anything, I think the ones behind it will be far more dangerous.

Hi Jesse! You beat me to it. :) After being around this long I finally realized you can't say much more than that. And wait until it gets near Florida, lol...

According to the 5pm NHC track, yes, the position is at least 75 miles E of WPB. The question is where does Chantal go and what will be left of her after that...

RECONNAISSANCE AIRCRAFT DATA INDICATE THAT TROPICAL-STORM-FORCE
WINDS EXTEND OUTWARD MORE THAN PREVIOUSLY ESTIMATED. THESE WINDS
EXTEND OUTWARD UP TO 90 MILES...150 KM...MAINLY TO THE NORTH OF
THE CENTER.

Yeah, they went up to 5k feet, then stayed there. Why would they just not climb up higher if they were going straight home?

My posts should NEVER, EVER, EVER be construed as an official forecast as I know virtually nada respecting the finer points of meteorology. Consequently, my posts are obviously NOT endorsed by any professional institution or the good folks at storm2k.org. For official information please refer to the weather gurus at the NHC and NWS.
