The CDO is trying to hang in there. We will have to see how well it holds together after sunset. It's obvious that the wind shear is hindering any quick development. I do believe that we will see a Tropical Storm from this before heading into the Big Bend area of Florida. It would be quite the message sent by mother nature if she decides to hit FLA on the first named system of the year.

Here's a sat pic with my crosshairs where the NHC initialized the center at 18Z. Buoy/ship reports do show one vortex there, that's no doubt. I'm not sure about another center farther east by the convection. Looks too disorganized for an upgrade in my opinion.

At aprox. 25n 88.7w Recon is reporting winds from the ESE although they are still not all that close to where the more eastern center is located

Buoy/ship reports put a weak center about 150 miles west of there - well west of any convection.

Quiet evident the LLC that I am pointing out on HR vis sat loop, IMO.

yeah it has not had time too pull the rest of the vorts in but i bet recon finds it there.

Looks like the LLC could very well be forming further east. The bare LLC further west looks just about dead judging by SAT imagery.

To me looks like it is well on it's way to becoming a named system. Amazing the impact the loop current can have especially now that shear has relaxed.

Last 2 images from GOES 13 have been blank.

Here's a higher rez image of what appears to be the LLC (my opinion).

I had thought they would start finding a more western component by now since it looks like they are on the SW side of where it looks like a center is forming. Cirrus outflow on the southern side is starting to show up though.

No sooner did I type this that they found the wind shift...
