I have a friend in Manzanillo who didn't leave. I told her to build a fort out of pillows and a mattress in the safest room in her home.

Not much sign of the outer eyewall from radar. Inner eyewall clearly still dominant.

Live radar onboard the recon flight shows the eyewall now... You can view the latest data from the onboard radar at http://hurricanecity.com/recon/recon.cg ... duct=radar

The whole ERC process probably won't start until landfall. The inner eyewall is rock solid on radar

Yeah except it's getting too late for an EWR to get very far before landfall now. So if a new eyewall has closed off it would take a number of hours for it to starve off tbe interior eyewall and thus there shouldn't be enough time for any significant net increase or decrease in strength.

I know I've said this a few times already, but gosh this looks exactly like Super Typhoon Nuri last year.

I've noticed a .2 degree difference in terms of longitude between the GOES-E and GOES-W positions

GOES-W is east of GOES-E

It'll probably be easiest just to use the radar onboard the recon plane. Latest image as of 1711 UTC:

Hope everyone stays safe there. Have a feeling that won't be the case. We have to Remeber at 200 mph that is the same as EF5 tornado. Just think of Norman Oklahoma. Over a much larger area. How much stronger will the winds be in the mountains? Also, could this pull a Sandy and actually tighten up more as the winds start to come in contact with mountains?
