So, are drones less reliable when taking measurements? Or are they wanting plane readings as well?

Don't know but I do think they want to confirm for sure if those winds are persistent.

True, just wondering if they think the drones are less reliable.

It's still new more or less using drones, so maybe over time they can be. It was nice to have an aircraft in the storm though while recon was absent but, I hope they don't totally replace manned recon (despite the dangers). It's my dream to become a Hurricane Hunter after all (hence the avatar).

Did the plane go through the hot tower? If not, it's good they're in the air. Safety first over data.

I was watching the extrapolated surface pressure as Miss Piggy flew East through the center at a MOL steady altitude. Surface pressures slowly dropped lots of 1008's followed by 1007's and finally a group of 1006 MB at the vortex center. It will take some persistent convection to spin that broader area up. We had a scattering of 1003 MB fixes last night where the thunderstorms were creating conflicting eddys.

That's right over the center if I'm correct.

So, my office is located on the 9th floor in an office building on Federal Highway (US 1) just north of Cypress Creek Rd/62nd St. in Fort Lauderdale. Usually I get a great view of the ocean, but for the past two hours I can't see a thing. Way to ruin my daily daydreaming TD 9! Stupid storm! :x
