Heavy band with likely 50 MPH gusts is making its way up too. Currently in Central Palm Beach County. You'll be getting it first in Martin County

What wind shear are you guys talking about, I haven't heard one of the pros on TV mention Wind Shear, all they are talking about how the cool front north is just venting this storm and making her very large.

Weagle on WPTV is picking out the cells with couplets & rotation on radar like fleas on a dog. Long night indeed.

Had our sliding glass door partially uncovered to go out on the patio earlier today, once these warnings started coming in we put them all up.

Yup. That's what I'm watching too. Amazing coverage. Weagle is kicking butt tonight.

Weagle is one of the best TV Mets, no doubt. I'll tune in to him over 12 or 25 any day of the week.

And Northern Cuba is paying the price for that. Hours upon hours of hurricane conditions.

Hey DH, great to see you post. Mojo Jojo making a special guest star appearance. With Cuba being narrow, yeah, they're getting wrecked by a stalled out major. I don't think it's super populated where it is now because that's a bit east of Havana. But I'm sure there is misery and pain. IR shows southern side of the storm overland intensifying.

well technically 2/3 of AL is in the NHC forecast cone.. so as long as Irma enters the great state of AL as a tropical system, be it a weak TS or depression, yes folks AL will get Irma as a shell of her former self... so lets not be too hard on Tony gang... :)

Was just noticing that, there has been a noticeable increase in the velocities as the inner eye deteriorates. Seems to be on its last leg before it falls into the outer eyewall

Just the beginning of major infrastructure failures, of mega proportions. Once the loss of power begins, and other infrastructure follows, that is when one realizes they should have evacuated. No electricity, no fresh water as the county water department has no means to produce or move fresh water. Toilets begin to not work, due to electrical failures to lift stations, and on and on. You have no idea until you have lived it.

Same here with Matthew. I heard a big clap of thunder, and thought to myself, that's odd, don't remember hearing thunder in any of the other hurricanes that I've experienced.

It'll be a tough call with recon still a good 20 minutes from the eye. I doubt they make a dramatic move without hard data. That said, if they're confident based on satellite it does make sense to get it out there for the 11pm news cycle.
