A wind gust of 120 mph was reported by the RAWs observing site at the National Key Deer Refuge on Big Pine Key at 9:38 AM EDT.

Its hitting that ridge of high CAPE air I mentioned yesterday.
Can't get a reading now due to cloud cover.
Also, looks like a Theta-E ridge may be building between Irma and Tampa this afternoon.
Keeping an eye on this.

Can that mean she'll track a little more east of the official track?

It's either dry air or the start of yet another eyewall replacement cycle where a band will start to rotate around the dry spot and choke out the current eyewall.

Into its NW quadrant but not into its core, not until it gets to central FL that is supposed to start disrupting the core.

KMIA reporting peak wind/ gust at 64 knots , here in south Miami seems about right. Few tree limbs down , no power.
Where are you seeing 100 mph in Dade. ?

University of Miami's marine campus on Key Biscayne reported 100 mph some time ago. MIA has reported 97 mph wind gusts as well.

Wow, Metar says peak 63 knots , where are you getting that report.

Either weather channel or WSVN reported it. I'm switching back and forth so do not remember which one. And MIA report was apparently 100 mph wind gust.

Indeed, she has been moving east of her projected 11PM and 5AM NHC paths. Is the further east track of the Ukmet vs the other 3 major models at 0Z or at least the somewhat more east 0Z GFS going to end up with a win? I'm now leaning toward the 0Z Euro verifying too far west and Irma making actual landfall somewhere in SW FL as opposed to the runs that had her only skirting the SW coast.This also means a harder hit on SE FL and further up FL. Anyone else's opinion about this and how she has been moving?

06z GFS also showed an almost due north track into Naples/Marco Island, doing that so far.
