Really fear how bad the surge will be once the center passes by. Those drained beaches ahead of the storm are a really bad sign.

Cat 1 winds per recon in sw quad at surface with eye pressure min 930s. should exit through ne quad where we should see stronger winds though.

Looks like yesterday when it was interacting with Cuba. The core is a bit messy

I don't think they can do the NE quadrant anymore with the land proximity. This time they hooked left and went out the NW quadrant.

So far nothing in port orange. People are driving and a few restaurants are open. Just some light rain.

I'm in South West Orlando. The rain has been a steady drizzle and very little wind to speak of. Funny how this stuff works sometimes. I'm sure the cells in the feeders will eventually get to us.

Weather will be going down hill soon, the first true feeder bands approaching Orlando, winds will continue to pick up , worst will be around 11 PM-5 AM.

I'm north of Altamonte Springs. Longwood - Seminole County. Light intermittent rains and gusts around 35 mph. so far. It's been that way the last 2 days (rain). We are near the Wekiva River Basin and lots of old trees. We are prepared to be without power for some time...probably sooner than later. If anyone else is in my area, Lyman High School is a pet friendly shelter. It's not too late if you are in a mobile home, go now.

Good luck, neighbors.

I'm in Seminole County as well, Forest City, Bear Lake area. Too bad the worst winds will be in the middle of the night, there's going to be some nice white caps on that lake and I would had loved to film it.

That probably was the outer eyewall moving through, should really get nasty when that intense inner band hits next 2 hrs.

Very odd to me, it sounds like we are getting worse conditions here than they are in Orlando at this point in time, from the reports I've seen here.

Yeah, I'm not down playing anything. Just a heavy drizzle. No wind, no heavy rain.

By the way, anybody have damage reports for Cuba? They got raked by a major hurricane for a day and I haven't heard anything from there.

Very similar to pre-tsunami. I didn't realize waters receded that much due to hurricanes.
Prayers for all

The story of Irma is going to be historic surge. The surge is in motion. It doesn't matter what the winds are at this point.
