NHC hits Puerto Rico on the current track. Hopefully it will adjust 100 miles one way or the other before Thursday.

not likely that far with this setup... the next 72 hours are very straightforward.
the onyl way it misses would be to the south if the ridge keeps it west longer. going north is very low at this point..

This is most depressing for the BVI and USVI. Add in a hit to Puerto Rico and the people who left those islands to PR for rescue and this is a nightmare. God help those poor people with this track.

It's forecasting 120mph, not 120 knots.

Oh I know. I'm just hoping. Looks bad for the USVI as well as they'd get smashed. I think they fared only a little better then the BVI, but they still got a devastating hit from Irma. Bad news for them.

St John took a major whack and St Thomas isn't doing well. Another hit and we're going to have a major humanitarian crisis there.

Don't look at the Canadian model then. It doesn't spread any sunshine either.

I wanted to take this moment to say to our neighbors down in the Northeast Caribbean Islands that my thoughts and prayers are completely with you, as once again another natural disaster is staring down the region. I am sure everyone on this forum shares my sentiments as well. God Speed to everyone with their preparations in the region and please be safe!!!!

Yup. Lots of overtime. And great exercise for the rest of us.
Just remember the famous phrase from Karate Kid 2:
Board up, board down, board up, board down.
Great exercise but sucks when the power goes out.

I was down there this spring and they are some of the most beautiful and wonderful people I've met in my travels. Your sentiments are spot on.

Hi everyone... we in Barbados are of course monitoring Maria very closely. Aric - what do you mean by 'just start dropping'?

Re: ATL: MARIA - Tropical Storm - Discussion
yes, fortunately we arent look at cat 5 irma rolling through there but plenty of intensity to cause problems, be prepared for at least 5 days and secure your property as best you can...3 days supply isnt enough and emergency managers and media need to stop it with the 3 day, its 5 day minimum with gas for the generator, food and most importantly water....its discouraging to see people in the united states complaing on day two they dont have gas for their car and the store isnt open...its absurd and there needs to be a change in thinking in this country..i understand if you dont have cash for five days of fuel for the generator but in most cases you can go without the generator..one thing you cant go without is water, no exceptions..be smart, be prepared and defend yourself against these storms..most people on this board get it..also help your neighbors with preps and check on them after...we had mutliple people die in a nursing home due to heat which is a tragedy and embarrassing considering the resources in the united states, we must do betternorthjaxpro wrote:I wanted to take this moment to say to our neighbors down in the Northeast Caribbean Islands that my thoughts and prayers are completely with you, as once again another natural disaster is staring down the region.
