Booked a room in Tallahassee for Sunday and Monday. Easier to cancel than to get a room once evac orders go out.

I've got a room booked at the Ma & Pa hotel in TN year round. Hate to have to use it for Irma though!

Not sure if I should fill the propane tank for the grill. It will have to come inside and if we get structure collapse it might explode burning down the house.


Not sure we need water because if it hits they won't let us back on the island and we won't need any water...I've got a case of water in the garage already...Probably better to have the water than not though...


We've got steel electric Rollaway hurricane shutters all the way around.


Personal papers and documents are the first priority...

This is the first time we have evacuated by land in a while, and I was happy to find La Quinta. (We happened to be at sea for Matthew, Rita, and Jeanne.)
PS - La Quinta is also a pet friendly hotel chain! (We have a kitty to consider, too.)

If you're going to do it, book two rooms way out of the potential path or future path of the storm. Tallahassee is good, as is Dothan, AL, Thomasville, GA, etc. DO not head to the West Coast of Florida because if the track shifts, you're going to clog our roads up for when we need to leave!

Anyway the CDO is expanding increasingly today and this will likely continue as it levels out and starts to regain latitude.

IF it stays away from Cuba there is a reasonable risk of another cat-4 landfall into Florida. I'd suspect once again if it avoids land it will be a 5 at some point.
