I totally agree, unfortunately they are spread so thin, with Olivia, Isaac, 95L, Florence and limited budgets. If Isaac wasn't out there I'm sure they will be sending the one they have down there up to investigate Florence. They should be able to tag in and out from Myrtle Beach (or wherever they fly out of), Bermuda. One flies from Myrtle to Bermuda, and back and forth, and have one in St. Kitts that do 12 hour fixes with Isaac until they get closer. As soon as one hits the hurricane, another should be taking off so we have continuous data until there is no reason to fly to Bermuda anymore. I know they fly out of Biloxi/Gulfport for all Gulf and Western Caribbean storms, so they probably have 1 or 2 planes there.

Maybe to redirect water flow... :?:

We've dug one in our back yard and it works great. Won't do squat for surge but we're in Charlotte. I send hubby out every couple of hours to clear debris for deluges.

But there is a difference between getting say 3-6 inches in a couple days, but with surge and feet of rain, even that wouldn't work.

She did a EyeWall Replacement Cycle (EWRC) in that span, and also show a movement of 2.5 degrees N and 6 degrees West.

Yeah, I said it wouldn't do squat for surges. But it does work to redirect water in a downsloped yard.

Maybe she’s not in the surge zone. Idk as someone who has had to have 2 sump pumps running non stop to move water out to our street/large ditches that drain into huge lake , this kinda makes sense. My backyard sits very low, and with Irma and Frances the water was almost in my home.

We're on a hill. The issue for us is the runoff coming straight at the house. One it gets past the drainage ditch, its down into the street and the storm drain. Works great, just needs to be monitored for debris during prolonged events.

It's still moving WNW. Recon has it moving at 300 degrees.

I seem to have caused quite the controversy by mentioning this woman who is building a ditch, I had to go back and find the video, but here it is:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkO-h6hGQVI

Says she is inland, and doesn't have any sandbags. In the video you can see that she is literally digging her yard up to make a ditch and to fill bags with dirt. Its very long but demonstrative of the chaos surrounding an impending forecasted hurricane landfall.

A What? Why?

Must be related to the folks in the sailboat.

Anyway, my friend in the Pamlico Sound area has completed their prep. Stuff is moved inland and they will leave in the morning. They are more than exhausted as I'm sure we can all relate too. It isn't just the physical preparedness but the mental stress and it can take a toll.

My best to all in the path.

Blessings.

I think that is my friend Tiffany lol Matthew tore her place up and she is making trenches for waterfow to the creek. Thanks for making me laugh thru these trying times

And I've learned something today!

I believe it is important that we learn something new at every chance we get. Thanks to you all! 8-)

That's pretty amazing, that boat was going to be toast in a short period of time. Just outside the outer bands and they would have had to go a long way to avoid it, I don't think they would have made it even if they realized they had to move.

From 5 hours ago Fox News tweeted this picture, just showing how big she is and how dangerous it is gonna be for a lot of people no matter where the eye goes in.

Click the globe and turn on the temperature color bar overlay. Those are super cold cloud tops, colder than red.
