At this point it's going to get the eyewall for sure. The question is which side of the eyewall it's going to get. NW vs NE makes a big difference in extreme winds

By the way that eyewall presentation is one of the best I've ever seen in a landfalling hurricane in the Atlantic. Irma was amazing at its peak and WPAC storms hitting Luzon also often have perfect eyewall, but forthegulf, best I've seen.

Looks to have definitely started that eastward jog in this radar loop. Eyewall looking closed and nasty.

How is the low going across the country going to effect Michael? Will it pick the remnants and take to the east coast with it?

Worried about my family in St Joe.

Wow the eye has really warmed and taking shape now. Worst case scenario for the FLA panhandle. Pushing upper bounds of Cat 4 to me. Those crazy ADT estimates starting to become believable.

Well this is the scariest CONUS landfall in a long time. Satellite presentation is just stunning

Wind strength wise, this may be the worst since Andrew from the looks of it. At least for the mainland.

With this and Harvey of last year we will have witnessed 2 of the most impressive looking (satellite appearance) hurricane strikes on the mainland US in the satellite era. Matched by only Andrew and Hugo as far as I can remember.

Has Mike been passing over the loop current that has to be some deep warm water out there?

Rank amateur but very interested in learning more here - could someone take a moment for a simple explanation of the two blobs that look like higher cloud tops to the east of and about parallel to the eye portend, if anything?
