I'd be feeling a lot better up that way. Also note the apocalyptic QPF values previously modeled over VA have been scaled way back...of course at the expense of locations farther south. If the leftward trends continue the northern extent of the watches and warnings may be trimmed in future advisories. Good luck up there.

Don't want to be anywhere close to Florence on a ship that's for sure.

Awesome waves off Bermuda, too. Not 83 feet, obviously, but it's wild out there.

@NHC_TAFB

Wave heights to 83 ft were measured early this morning under the NE quadrant of Hurricane Florence. These enormous waves are produced by being trapped along with very strong winds moving in the same direction the storm's motion.

edit: missed this on the last page... things moving too quickly.

If I remember correctly, Irma did the same thing. Kept going through EWRC.

And she ended up a monster size storm.

WindSAT pass at 1052z shows the outer eyewall is near completion. Should see it to begin contracting later today

Holy cow. 103kt flight level winds incredibly far from the center. Anyone have a distance on that?

What is Florence's size right now? Is she relatively large?

Was just looking at that buoy. It will be interesting to watch the readings. Almost in the direct path of Florence.

Guess we are getting ready to find out how seriously the NHC takes 2 Euro runs in a row. If they verified, TS watch would need to be issued all the way to Fernandina Beach FL. At the very least to Brunswick GA. Certainly Savannah is well in play.

Satellite presentation is actually pretty good this morning despite she's about to start an EWRC
