At low tide, fortunately

When your difference between high and low tide is like a foot, it really doesn't make a big difference.

@BillKarins — Best analogy I can come up with. A bowling ball is heading ashore and #PanamaCity is playing the role of the pins. Sudden and destructive damage with the eyewall next 6 hours.

The visuals would be interesting as this will be a rare intense day-time landfall.
This is a feast for storm chasers

Only about 50% evacuated from zones A, B and C.

The 331 bridge is now closed and a curfew will be placed.

Those surface winds were actually in the NW eyewall.

Yeah.. in the NW...even more insane...pray for them

You are correct, I just noticed that it was dropped while on the northern eyewall but landed closer to the NW quadrant, which makes sense why SFMR did not catch those winds.

Storm chaser Brett Adair relocating to Mexico Beach to try and intercept the eye. Passed a research team just East of Tyndall setting up a observation tower. We will see if it survives. May be some amazing data.

Maybe Port St Joe and apalachicola in the eastern eyewall.
