Latest short-term motion almost E-NE - I know its wobbling but every wobble counts now for landfall.

At least the right front quadrant will be in the lightly inhabited areas east of Panama City. That will reduce the loss of life considerably and hopefully save Panama City Beach from the truly catastrophic impacts. My family managed to have beachfront properties in the RFQ of Eloise, Opal, *and* Ivan (two different properties at different times, great luck there) and the battering waves were the most gruesome part. In Eloise we had a cottage on the beach but probably 20 feat above sea level (topography) and it was completely overtopped by waves. There was literally seaweed hanging from the rafters. If that happened in PCB with over 10,000 still there it would be really bad.

there was a guy about 5 miles north of panama who sunk some 4 x 4's around his mobile home and put plywood up on all sides and the roof  So he build a shelter around his trailer and put sandbags around it.

He will be dead at 3:30pm I promise you.

Lots of people are going to die today. This was not the storm to play with.

Thankfully it should begin to weaken with the EWRC.

But so far I have not seen the recon confirm a double wind max forming, unless I missed it.

Keep those pics of the eye coming.

Don’t have time to check other sites.

I have a feeling I’ll be here for awhile. Will go to beach after worst has passed and look for survivors.

Will also cut trees to help clear path across bridge for first responders.

Although I have been a hurricane forecaster since 1980 that only means I've been wrong lots of times.

It's too little too late. This will be landfalling before the EWRC causes it to weaken significantly.

There has been a slight outer moat but I'm noticing that's filling back on as that convection with the proto eyewall begins to head inland.

The short version- not enough time for an EWRC to really get going.

Looks like the mesovorts are consolidating.
Getting down to three.
Another sign of strengthening.
This thing is hell on wheels.

Yeah seeing -80 cold tops firing still in southwest. Also not seeing this EWRC... saying it’s happening from radar is very specious. I’ll wait for a recon double wind maxima or microwave indications.
