It never fails how a storm is always going to start that more right heading as it nears the coast, better news for Destin, most of Panama City will still get hit hard especially the eastern section into MX Beach.

10mph away from Cat 5 status -- this is horrifying!

Looks like the mesovorticies are disappearing. Eye is becoming more circular on radar. Will probably see further pressure drops. Sub-920 very possible.

I'm sure it's been posted but do you have a link for his live feed? Also, has anyone considered creating a sub-thread for any web-cams, live feeds, chasers, etc? I know we all offer up links here in the discussion thread but when it gets crazy busy with so many posts, just thought it might be worth making more quickly available to reference

Probably doesn't have time but at this intensity the end result between 150mph and minimal Cat 5 is negligible. Damage will be equally bad.

Doubtful. She doesn't have much time left. 90 minutes, tops.

Re: ATL: MICHAEL - Hurricane - Discussion: Tropical Cyclone Update= 150 mph 923 mbs
Michael is making a last minute push to Category 5 and unfortunately may have enough time to just barely reach 140 knots during landfall.

Been a while since I’ve posted, but I just wanted to say how truly shocked I am with this storm, and sick to my stomach. My thoughts are with all of you whom are in the path.
My goodness what a monster storm.

Tallahassee is inland far enough that some of those eyewall winds may begin to expand out beyond the usual 20 miles from center, also there are tornado warnings and down bursts. The storm will continue to unwind up through Georgia and serious flood issues for people living near waterways even well inland.

@HenryMargusity — I think this is a Cat 5 hurricane. But NHC makes the call.
@RyanMaue — Another NHC update 11:30 AM EDT #HurricaneMichael still intensifying -- now with 130-knot winds -- nearing Category 5 -- before landfall.
Pressure 923 mb -- almost as low as Andrew (1992)

Re: ATL: MICHAEL - Hurricane - Discussion: Tropical Cyclone Update= 150 mph 923 mbs
Not so sure we will have instruments survive the eyewall to measure an actual eye landfall pressure at this point... totally speechless. Never in my wildest imaginations did I expect this to happen.

Not a meteorologist, in fact more of an idiot than anything. You should probably check with the NHC or a local NWS office for official information.

Re: ATL: MICHAEL - Hurricane - Discussion: Tropical Cyclone Update= 150 mph 923 mbs
That is an amazing pressure drop so close to land, sub 920mb probably do able before landfall in a few hours. More or less a deeper and larger version of Charley.
