Re: ATL: FLORENCE - Hurricane - Discussion
I have relatives that went to go get their daughter in Sumter SC and bring her back to FL, but then for some reason decided to stay there with her instead of coming back . I hope they will be ok. It seems as if Flo is heading more north for now?

I think the eye is being pulled north by the convection in the eyewall. Eye is going to wobble around chasing convection. Convection on IR loop and radar loop starting to look like its trying to close off. Maybe gulfstream working its magic....MGC

Jeff Piotrowski on his livestream saying the storm is maintaining strength and perhaps may be intensifying.

Make sure the bridge is still open when you need to high tail it out.

Got to remember this is from ground radar, it will at times have problems getting all the way over the storm heights, so what looks like a dry slot, might actually not be dry.
Look at all tilts. Sampling between 10kft on a half degree tilt on the northern edge of the slot and over 40kft with a 3.1degree tilt on the south end.

Thats been said pretty much all day, however she isn't getting stronger despite all these convection bursts and what not..her pressure keeps dropping, her winds keep dropping as well.

Mr. Mayor, with all due respect, I hope you too will evacuate.

If anything its been steadily falling apart for 48 hours. Endless "oh wow its blowing up now" posts which amount to nothing. Towers come and go, but its too late for it to "blow up".

Can you explain what you mean by falling apart?

Re: ATL: FLORENCE - Hurricane - Discussion
I hate to make comparisons, but this could be North Carolina’s Sandy. Can’t tell you how many people up here kept discrediting Sandy based on the fact that it went from a category two, down to a category one/extra tropical system and wrote it off, only to be surprised when their homes were completely flooded out and without power for weeks. Don’t use wind speed as a measurement for storm intensity or destructive power. M
