Does the Bahamian govt have an agency like FEMA to help people with rebuilding and cleanup?

I don't think Freeport is getting battered with anything more than Cat 1/2 winds. Most of the damage is from 20 feet of surge.

Not to mention evacuation orders of zones A&B from Miami to South Carolina... sure "all clear"

People in St. Augustine and Jax along the coast and river are about to lose their homes or at a minimum have to repair flood damage for the 3rd time in 4 years... Matthew, Irma and now Dorian.

I think most of this weakening is due to significant cooling of the ocean due to very slow motion.
It looks to me like he’s back from the slow WNW or NW drift to hardly moving at all. Any other opinions?

They seem to really be cooling on the west side of the CDO on sat ir. I hope Dorian isn't starting to drop a straw into the Gulf Stream.
After a lifetime of watching storms interact with the Gulf Stream, I don't want to see what he can do with it.

Looking at the IR loop on Tidbits, seems to be looking a little more intense over the last few frames. Good thing the plane is in there so we can keep tabs on restrengthening.

It seems the weakening this morning was largely due to upwelling and land interaction? I wondered if it could re-intensify since it still has the warm Gulf Stream ahead of it and shear/dry air are low for now.

yeah, looks stationary. If I had to say, perhaps a N wobble. Good to have recon in there to let us know for sure.

Consider that the Bahamas total population is less than that of the Charleston, SC metro area. If Charleston had to recover from something like Hugo with no outside help it would have been tough to say the least.

Probably just wobbling, but I saw the N move a bit myself. Thankfully we have a plane in there :-)
