Interesting changes to the eye in the IR loop. Filling in?

I don't know what to make of it looking at the radar side by side showing a much larger eye on echos at higher elevations but tightening none the same.

Yeah it's definitely weakened a ton. People underestimate just how much upwelling can knock a storm down to almost nothing. I feel if it wasn't so strong when it started that it'd probably be even weaker than it is right now.

I feel awful for the people there but it's good it didn't hit a more populated area that couldn't evacuate. Puerto Rico has almost 4 million people that had nowhere to go when Maria hit and 3057 people died. The death toll shouldn't be that high I would hope...but I guess we'll see in the coming days and weeks.

I'm with you on this, the inner eyewall looks the least organized on Miami doppler that I've seen all day.
At the same time Dorian seems to be building cold cloud tops on IR sat.

could the dry air to the NW weakening the system? The trough digging down across the SE... then would a weaker system feel more of the strong high to the west or east? Could it miss the upper level winds off to the NNE?

They may be adding to our usual king tides this time of year when higher tides are expected. But they appear to be higher today and generating some higher water and flooding on the inland waters.

I can NEVER remember seeing a storm sit in exactly the same spot for so long.
Maybe I'm getting old and forgetful but this is getting quite disturbing, especially while the Bahamas are still being decimated by this hurricane that refuses to move an inch.

Word. It’s insane. Unimaginable. Peace up to the Kingdom. Gonna be a while more. Unfortunately, blacks and whites are showing up on radar so overnight intensification is en route. Looks like maybe Dorian is wanting to budge out of that cape and maybe drift a hair NNW?
