Hurricane pass cutting potential if it does sneak in over/west of cape lookout. Storm reminds me of Wilma (post Yucatan) or Ike (post Cuba)

100 frame radar loop. You can clearly see the inner core consolidating throughout today

Anyone think NHC landfalls this in NC Onslow Carteret County line area? That is inland west of Cape Lookout. This is where last Euro brings it in.

Left for a few hours to take care of some stuff and now it sounds like everything has changed. If the eye goes west of the OBX SEVA has to be put in the hurricane warning...

Unlike last time, this one appears more legit.

953.2 mb

My posts are my own personal opinion, defer to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) and other NOAA products for decision making during hurricane season.

The SE quad looks much stronger than the NW based on that pass

Just outside the center on SE side is 90kts at the surface and they only sent through about 6 readings past the center. Next group could have higher winds

The winds were picking up here in Jax as the sun set. I was surprised to actually get to see the sunset. I guess the radar edge was the cloud edge too.

The eye is becoming more rounded and circular. Can we really make it a run to CAT4?

I'd say probably it will make a run at cat 3 but it would take a whole lot to get to 4...this is a much larger storm size wise than it was over the weekend

Could this end up like 1958's Hurricane Helene I wonder? It did become a strong cat 4 in that part of the world.
