Surface observations and satellite imagery indicate that a low pressure area has formed just off the upper Texas and southwestern Louisiana coasts. The associated shower and thunderstorm activity shows signs of organization. However, the system is likely to move inland over eastern Texas and western Louisiana before significant development can occur. Regardless of development, this system is expected to bring locally heavy rains to portions of Louisiana and eastern Texas during the next day or two.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...low...10 percent.
* Formation chance through 5 days...low...10 percent.

I can't see this being named though, way too close to land.
If it does RI, then I'd expect nothing more than a TD.

Looks to be just south of Cameron, LA, hopefully this doesn't raise the flood threat too much here. Radar echoes are definitely taking on an banding appearance over the gulf.

CAPE ridge feeding this is now up to 6000.
That's about as high as it gets.
Massive anticyclone has developed over this.

12z GFS implies 90L (or at least part of the energy of 90L) will stick around for a while. Moves E off the coast near New Orleans at 60hrs, treks across FL while doing an anticyclonic loop, and exits back into the GOM near Tampa at 144 hours.

I don't see how this system has enough time to even get close to TD status even considering the favorable conditions.

My posts are my own personal opinion, defer to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) and other NOAA products for decision making during hurricane season.

On radar it appears that the rotation offshore is becoming more distinctive.

Let’s hope not, a surprise tropical storm or hurricane would be bad, it all depends on if the southern circulation takes shape or not

Here’s another thing to consider is if this doesn’t make landfall and rides the gulf coast like the GFS but 50miles farther south especially if the southern circulation is developing

12z GFS shows another vorticity forming as the one near the coast moves inland. The one that forms later is the one that it shows making the loop later in time.

Looks like everything is taking a big dive to the south.
Nice W to E Feeder Band Inplace.
Tons and tons of vortical hot towers firing all over.

Pretty quiet here in Port Arthur. A little breeze but nothing real gusty. Looks like most of the action will float east of here.
