Pardon my French...

It's officially a high-end CAT4. No where near low end
Yes, I was just expecting to wake up to a 115 knot Cat 4, I can't believe it intensified this fast!!
Good morning everyone!!

Not an meteorologist! Just someone who is interested in weather. Please refer to the NHC and local weather officials to make decisions.

Recon diving in the core of Iota. Those ~10 minutes in between recon data when the forum is quiet & everyone is just refreshing the recon pages are always so tense.

San Felipe appears to have taken a near direct hit from the southern eyewall

To have back to back strong major's impact an area within a couple weeks that has seen so few hurricanes in their history is crazy.

City of Puerto Cabezas(population 60K) is in the ground zero of projected landfall. Hurricane Felix hit the area 13 years ago and killed around 100 people there.

The strongest winds are likely in the northern eyewall for a due west moving system. Unlikely that recon is going to capture them if doing only 2 passes each mission.

Hi. "This kid" here. What issue do you have with my post? The microwave pass is suggestive of an EWRC sooner rather than later. That doesn't mean it's a certainty, the band could break down or be slower to congeal into a solidified secondary eyewall. These things are hard to predict. Iota will be a very strong storm at landfall regardless.

12 hrs later, no signs of EWRC.
First it has to peak, and the eye start to contract before we start talking about about EWRC.
I rest my case, kid

Not quite as strong as many thought, but definitely a Cat 5.

NE eyewall could be as high as 150kt based on this pass in the NW eyewall.
