I am kind of surprised they think not much strengthening before reaching Yucatan with the center trying to getting its act together again. Unless they mean beyond there generous windage 8-)

Anyone else notice that the pressure rose from 963 to 973 based on the third center drop?

Yeah I notice that on the recon graphic but the latest dropsonde says 974 with 73kts of wind. It's probably somewhere between the two

I actually mentioned something like this to my mom earlier today. lol I was watching videos on YouTube earlier and one showed Delta's track near the east side of Louisiana while another had it in the middle. For the most part, it is because of the graphics being used, but yeah, I get what you mean by confusing. In your case, maybe one of the TV networks just got their info from another source / needed to update.

The next center pass should be interesting. Satellite would lead you to believe the core is attempting to organize again. CDO much more circular than just an hour ago.

The SW quad was UGLY on that pass; barely Cat 1. But the NE eyewall should be stronger.

I see a 964mb extrap reading on that pass. Pressure stabilizing/slightly falling again? Winds are down but they can respond quickly.

Maybe making one last run for it before the Yucatan. For the sake of Cancun and Cozumel perhaps the bark will be worse than the bite, but with waters that warm and frictional convergence who knows.

Not a meteorologist, in fact more of an idiot than anything. You should probably check with the NHC or a local NWS office for official information.

Anyone else have a feeling this morning's predicted intensification might happen once this reaches the lower Gulf?

Do not take anything I say seriously as a form of meteorological prediction. I am not a meteorologist; I don't think being in law school translates to any special knowledge. I am just a somewhat bullish amateur watcher.

It won't have the pinhole so it won't be near as fast. But I do think it will restrengthen to a strong cat 4 in the gulf. What concerns me is that the NHC has it peaking at 130mph in the gulf before landfalling as a Cat 3. The stronger it gets, the less the cold water will be able to bring it down. Gulf coast needs to be preparing for a major

The Hype from this storm seems to have died down pretty quickly...

The cat 5 hype yes. But it's still forecast to be a major landfall in the Yucatan and the US gulf coast. I'm not trying to overhype anything but it needs to be taken seriously no matter what category it is
