Maybe the recon is canceled because it's soon landfall?

I'm about 18 miles West of Bob Hall Pier. Winds are now gusting to 45mph and electricity is flickering....Ugh. I got my HD Camera out and will upload some videos to You Tube if it starts getting really bad. Hopefully no power disruption.

I have a feeling the surge will be larger than thought, watching on TWC that the water is rising in Port Aransas despite it being low tide now. Perhaps the surge goes to 7 to 10 feet, and yep this because Hanna is large and might get to Cat 2 imo, or at least 90 MPH high end cat 1.

Definitely an over-achiever like most of 2020 has been thus far, and is a sign of things to come later this season.

Harlingen just south of Kennedy county border will get that intense southern band and maybe south part of eye.

My neighbor lost a 50 foot tree yesterday in a wind gust that landed about 25 feet away from where I was standing in Splendora. Heard the crack and ran. It was a good reminder to be inside before a storm.

not sure how good this site is, this is my first time using it but gives a good idea where the worst surge is.

Looks like the entire eye is warming up. I'd imagine we'll have a clear eye soon

well damn, where Paul G. is on Corpus Christi's beach, a leaking propane tank is getting battered loose by the waves near the pier where power poles are also getting jostled around, 2 firefighters came to the scene to see what they could do. Just goes to show the kinds of dangers that can arise during these storms.

An oblique view of Hanna from GOES-17 highlights the active convection in the southwestern eyewall and the dramatic clearing of the eye.

Only if the initial core/eye could have been 10 nm smaller... this transformation would have been so much more dramatic

Very dramatic with those hot towers firing right off the coast.
