Question for anyone: All the models have shown almost no intensity on west side of storm as it moves inland.

But with the storm being so healthy and symmetrical is that still the case???

It looks like the most intense part of the storm will go over Plaquemines Parish. The eye could go right over south/east NOLA.

They haven't updated them yet. As far as the winds being asymmetric, it's a function of the forward speed. The winds on the east side will be 40-50 mph stronger than on the west side.

Appreciate that pcolaman. Mother-in-law was just over there the last couple days but bailed when she thought she was going to get hit by a hurricane only to come back to New Orleans. haha. You can't win them all. Best to you and everyone else in my other hometown over there in the 850.

What does it look like outside?

Grey, rainy (moderate) and winds in the low teens. Nothing crazy yet so far.

If the wind is blowing from the North or Nrthwest that is probably a good thing..
Zeta is probably going to have TS winds all the way into Pennsylvania.

Eyewall appears to have weakened a bit

HWRF had that yesterday night and focused the energy to the northern eyewall which blew up some north of here. So that’s something to look out for post landfall north of Lake Pontchartrain and in Southern Mississippi.

Check the NHC 5:00 PM update when it's released and they'll have an updated graphic on wind.

This might get bumpier than I thought over my way. Frequent 80-90 mph gusts in SE MS and 60-75 in Mobile with higher gusts possible being forecast by the NWS. And this was before the most recent strengthening.

It sure look like we are about to get the outer band of the northern eye wall soon. We are getting very heavy rain with gusts to around 40 mph or so right now. I am in Cut Off La. about 30 miles north of port Fourchon. I have already lost power twice but it came back on after a few minutes each time
