According to the 00z best track, Iota has actually moved east by 0.2 degrees longitude. This stall is likely to seriously impact the timing and intensity of the track. Levi said a stronger storm is more likely to get a little further north, so if Iota ends up delaying the time it reaches CA’s longitude by 12-24 hours, it would be able to get stronger and perhaps get tugged north enough to miss it.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

But that would be scary for Belize, and I would feel really bad for them. :(

Winter 2020-2021 :cold:

All observations are in Tecumseh, OK unless otherwise noted.

Winter posts are focused mainly for Oklahoma & Texas.

Take any of my forecasts with a grain of salt, refer to the NWS, SPC, and NHC for official information

Latest frames is showing a westward movement from Iota, the forecasting is about as diffcult as Eta.

Sure is right on the cusp of either going just inland or staying just offshore. Little trends will make a big difference in the long run

Not a meteorologist, in fact more of an idiot than anything. You should probably check with the NHC or a local NWS office for official information.

Right! Like November usually sees nothing! The Caribbean is making up for the last decade in a huge and unforgettable way!

Big South to South East jog. What might be happening is a LLC reformation might be underway. The Storm has been tilted since it formed today.

It's difficult to determine movement if you cannot find a center to track.

Satellite imagery suggesting that Iota is starting to become broad with the LLC again.

This is going to be diffcult to track. . .

Hopefully by the time recon arrives tomorrow (like 1-2pm EST), Iota will have a better defined LLC that can be pinned down. I’m thinking it could be around 45-55 kt by then.

Let's assume that both hurricanes Eta and Iota are category 5's, which is more insane? July 2005 or November 2020?

That's quite the vigorous mid level rotation. Once a core establishes it'll likely get going in a hurry.

Looks like some shear is effecting it right now. The anticyclone is displaced SW of the center so it's gonna need to get that figured out if it really wants to get going. It most likely will but any potential setback from going completely bonkers is fine with me...

Yeah, seems to be dealing with some light westerly shear.
