Re: ATL: ETA - Tropical Storm - Discussion
Just had about 45 minutes of nasty, squally weather here in SW Broward. Wind gusts strong enough to bust a huge palm frond from my 60 ft royal palms and sail it into the side of my house....surprised us! So we closed the one shutter on the side window nearby, just in case other's break off through the night. Don't want my window broken. We're getting a break in the heavy rain/wind for the moment. Are the effects we're feeling from Eta going to be hanging around for a while?

A couple heavier embedded bands are just spiraling in. Winds gusting to, I'd say, about 40 right now as I sit on my back porch.

At the Publix I work at in Jupiter the power has been flickering all day! Not to mention the palm trees are swaying and blowing around like crazy.

NHC had no other option but to move the forecasted track a little north, forecast track making landfall over the southern Keys.

Key West is currently experiencing 6 kts of wind. The calmness is a bit surreal, especially given the falling pressure.

This and Sand Key light house will be good data observation points tomorrow morning.
I still think Eta might be close to hurricane strength when she gets here. Right now it is a little right of the forecast, but turn west tonight is expected and possibly WSW overnight and early in the morning is probable. Both the GFS and EURO show the WSW dive, from my experience when that happens in this area, the storm also strengthens quickly.

These winds in most of these bands are not reaching the ground likely because it’s too stable in the boundary layer because it's November.

No damage done, just a little surprised by the thud we heard when it hit the house. It was a "what was that?" moment.

I’m hoping driving home tonight at 10pm won’t be too bad.

Coconut Creek, west of the Coconut Creek Pkwy turnpike exit had a tree fall in my backyard.
40mph gusts is the max I’d say was reached.

NHC finally moved their 120hr point from 27.5N/84W to near landfall north of Tampa. HIGH degree of uncertainty in Eta's intensity then. I think they are erring on the high side.

Re: ATL: ETA - Tropical Storm - Discussion
The reasoning the NHC is still predicting Hurricane strength is that shear is modeled to drop in the coming hours.

Historically not all that unusual to have a landfall between Tampa and the Big Bend area for a November storm. The key will be how long it has to either intensify or hopefully get shredded some more.

I know nothing of where to find such info. NHC is my official information source, and this forum is my source of all other kinds of wonderfully useful tidbits - like the ones provided by you above (I believe it was you who posted a wind map earlier as well, but maybe I am wrong). So, where do you find such info?
