I'm getting the feeling this isn't getting upgraded before moving onshore tomorrow and really should've been designated a TD before moving onshore in Florida the first place.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

Re: ATL: FAY - Tropical Storm - Discussion
Records keep fallin'. A spree of six higher latitude brief mostly baroclinically initiated or enhanced storms (sans Cristobal ofc) certainly doesn't compare to 2005's six deep-tropical cyclones including two long track category 4+ but I have a feeling we get THOSE in a month or two...

Not a meteorologist, in fact more of an idiot than anything. You should probably check with the NHC or a local NWS office for official information.

Yeah, definitely organized a fair bit this morning and consolidated. Deserves the name.
6-0-0
Absolutely unbelievable to be on the sixth named storm of the year by July 9th. And while these storms have all been weak, it's amazing how every single invest seems to be developing this year. Once conditions start becoming more favorable in the MDR, things might start getting serious.

My posts are my own personal opinion, defer to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) and other NOAA products for decision making during hurricane season.

For comparison the last iteration of Fay developed on October 10th.
Which, to be fair, was in a very slow season, but still.

Well organized MCS to the west heading toward Fay.
May interact with it tomorrow.
Tower just to the NE of the CoC beginning to fire lightning.

What a difference between two Fays - one in October, one in July. Half a season apart.
This season definitely has a 2011 vibe right now (albeit with more earlier storms).

Re: ATL: FAY - Tropical Storm - Discussion
This should be the first tropical Northeast landfall since Irene, and the first named storm in the region since Sandy...but the impact should be far, far less than either of those storms. Something along the lines of Beryl 2006 or Danielle 1992.

Gosh, even this storm looks good. Even though we've had weak storms so far, everyone of them have been pretty well organized.

There are some similarities, but I don't think the tracks are going to end up all that similar season vs. season. JMO
