You can see the circulation on Eglin radar, increase in convection and seems to be holding its own but doubt it develops as it is running out of time.

Cool feature looks like it's headed for a tour of residual Michael damage in Bay or Gulf county..

interesting, wind readings along the coast have all switched to align with the circ.

seems the size of the wind field is expanding.... the buoy measured 30mph winds as well.

on its present course if it does not move any more it might ride along the coast from appalachicola into the big bend.

that would give it more time.

buoys winds switched to wsw 30mph gusting to 35.

should still technically be a TD.

Just curious Aric what makes u think it could ride the coast towards big bend? It seems to be headed straight to appalach wouldn't it go inland? Just want to know ur thoughts.

I know just about enough to sound like I know what I'm talking about sometimes. But for your safety please follow the nhc for truly professional forecasting. :D

well, as I mentioned if it stayed on the path it was on. ( just plot the center after a couple hours then draw a line) it would have come in at Apalachicola and ride the coast into the big bend..

the last hour it has slightly wobbled left of that. still looks to come in around apalachicola though.. but more inland.

white line was the average motion from an hour ago..

yellow line is the current average motion.

This looks like a tropical system imo.

The NHC is the last call

the convection on radar in the SW quad is very indicative of surface convergence and well a TC..

might be a late night upgrade as it nears the coast and we get some obs.

does not matter what it looks like..

Closed well defined circ, warm core, organized convection..

we have all that..

Poor little guy...he was so close too.

If 98L lives up to what the GFS and Euro are forecasting, there’s a chance it could develop off of the US east coast before making landfall in New England this upcoming weekend.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.
