We got a SAR hit on Higos prior to landfall. This may be the reason JTWC edited the intensity up to 60 kt at 12Z. Also seems to add credence to later surface observations.

Matches quite well with Doppler winds analysis at around 15UTC that I have obtained. JTWC hasn't changed the intensity estimates for other fixes, but a post-season upgrade to Category 1 may be likely given the improvement in satellite presentation after this SAR pass.

A standard sized image from NRL of that SAR pass also really shows how small Higos was.
