This system looks so much better organized than "50kt" TS Gonzalo. I know the NHC doesn't like to indicate major fluctuations in intensity from advisory to advisory, but small storms are capable of massive swings in a short period of time. Not sure the plane will find TS winds this evening. However, the environment around it is much more favorable than the environment around Gonzalo.

You must have been typing this while the recon went through the CoC and found pressure down to around 1003mb
Yeah, saw that. That 1006.4 was about 23nm NE of the center. It was measured, though, not estimated. Pressure is lower, anyway. Still no TS winds, though.

IoT just opened up.
Starting to drink the EPAC juice.
Nothing down there to compete with.
Buckle up.

I've never heard of a tropical depression with an eyewall.
Clear evidence of eyewall building.

Press 'x' to doubt. I'd call it an eyewall if it was clearly rotating around a fixed center, and the storm had winds over, I don't know, 35 mph.

To think this is a TD, and Barry was a hurricane, haha

It wouldn't be long until winds catch up to that pressure drop, especially in the morning when deeper convection starts firing up.

Fortunately this only has less than 48hrs. left over water.

Though the "eye test" for tropical systems is mostly complete b.s. as relates to strength (trust the observations). 8 does look good. This looks to be the first of 3 or 4 pulses we can expect before landfall. It'll wane off a little when cloudtops warm, but this phase should help up the ante for the next one.

But unfortunately that's enough time for an explosion.

We haven't done it in a long time. Jump from T.D. to Hurricane.

Yes ozonepete, and it seems to happen more often than not in this part of the Gulf.

Note: If I make a post that is brief. Please refer back to previous posts for the analysis or reasoning. I do not re-write/qoute what my initial post said each time.
